BUGS IN BABY FORMULA? PARENTS WORRIED ABOUT RECALL
By Lindsey Tanner and Ed White| Posted: Thursday, September 23, 2010 1:11pm
Worried parents are bombarding drug maker Abbott laboratories with phone calls about millions of containers of infant formula recalled because they might contain parts of beetles.
But North Chicago, Ill.-based Abbott says it recalled the 5 million cans of Similac powdered formula only as a precaution, and it's unlikely any product sold is contaminated.
Doctors also say chances for serious illness are slim in babies who drink formula containing bug parts.
Still, parents like Stephanie Roseman of Farmington Hills, Mich., are upset. She said on Thursday that her 3-month-old son seemed like he had a stomach ache this week. So Roseman is switching to a rival formula.
Abbott says it uncovered the insects last week at a manufacturing plant in Sturgis, Mich.

Okay so we are possibly feeding bugs to our kids? What is going on with manufacturing these days? This is a perfect reason why I encourage people to purchase fresh food and nothing in a box, bag or can. If you are looking to feed your child milk the best is from mom. Cows mild is for baby cows. Human milk is for baby humans. Please if at all possible breast feed. This is where your child gets a large portion of his/her immune system. Studies show that a child who has not been breast fed will have approximately 75% more chance in getting childhood illnesses.
If you can breast feed up to two years old. If you need more information on breast feeding please visit web sites like La Leche League International. Our country is so sick and continues to become more sick. You can help raise healthy children by the simple acting of breast feeding. If you do this your child will be healthy, happier and more intelligent. The research proves it. You won't have to worry about bug parts in the formula either.
