Since it is my birthday today I decided this morning I would contemplate life. During my contemplation I was reminded of a news program I saw last night where the talking head discussed the statistics of the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree. I decided to write a short commentary on the insanity of this years tree. Please read and really think about all of the living things that have been here much before you were born and will hopefully be here much after you are born. This I wrote on my facebook page:
"I'm contemplating age at this day of my birth celebration and I was watching a news program on TV. Not often do I do this. But one of the talking heads explained that the Christmas Tree in Rockefeller Center survived Hurricane Sandy. I was thinking the tree is 80 feet tall and probably well over 200 years old. Who in the infinite wisdom and knowledge thought, "This big old tree survived the mo
st damaging hurricane in our history so instead of celebrating its survival, strength and stamina let's go ahead and chop the damn thing down and tell the story how it survived a major natural disaster only to be killed by the stupidity of human kind. This will be a great story to tell the entire world that we hunted a tree that survived a natural disaster and we thought it fitting to be made into an icon that has literally nothing to do with Jesus Christ or anything to do with what Christmas is all about. By doing this the tree will represent how with such a horrible storm the people of the United States will survive just like this tree that we cut down and bespangled it with cheesy lights for all to see and watch as it slowly drops its needles and dies." I take care in knowing that those individuals who made the decision to cut down such a majestic tree will have an overabundance of Karma to work out for the rest of their life and many lives to come. Just my two cents. Namaste."
